Bendito Palavra's John Chapter 12 comment on 3/25/2021, 8:28am...

The leaders in the time of Jesus were wicked pretenders of religion and Jesus exposed their hypocrisy:

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves. (Matthew 23:15)

And the Lord said unto him, Now do ye Pharisees make clean the outside of the cup and the platter; but your inward part is full of ravening and wickedness. (Luke 11:39)

Jesus was perceived as a threat to the religious leaders so they conspired to kill him:

Then gathered the chief priests and the Pharisees a council, and said, What do we? for this man doeth many miracles. If we let him thus alone, all men will believe on him: and the Romans shall come and take away both our place and nation. (John 11:47-48)

Even Pilate saw through their facade:

But Pilate answered them, saying, Will ye that I release unto you the King of the Jews? For he knew that the chief priests had delivered him for envy. (Mark 15:9-10)

The great wonder of this is that God knew all this and worked it all together to provide the needed sacrifice for our sins through his Son Jesus Christ:

Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain: Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it. (Acts 2:23-24)

Hi sir,

I just want to know why the church leaders hated Jesus instead of supporting his ministry
