Tracy, may CHRIST IN US grace us with HIS wisdom and HIS understanding.

There is more than enough in today's KJV to know TRUTH.

Most don't study. You can't know without study; ALSO, you can't know without THE SPIRIT revealing it to you.

The tithes in the Old Testament were always products (firstfruits) of the land, livestock, grain, olive oil, etc. (not money). These were given to the priests to have food to eat, because they received no land inheritance to grow and raise their own food.

Malachi wasn't rebuking the people for not tithing, but for bring polluted tithes, sick cattle, spoiled grain, etc. that was not life sustaining for the priest.

The tithe is no longer in effect because the Levitical priesthood no longer exist.

We are now under grace and you GIVE (not required as was the tithe) from the goodness of your heart.

Under the New Covenant; we are the firstfruits of the land, and we are POLLUTED and not accepted of the lord as an offering of RIGHTEOUSNESS. ENTER Christ WHO MAKES US an acceptable offering of RIGHTEOUSNESS to the Lord.

I'm seeking and searching for the original Bible from the 1600's before verses scripts and chapters were removed from the Bible, there has been studies shown that Malachi was talking to the priest and not the people. I'm not seeking to gain whatsoever I only desire to have a relationship and be close with Christ. When I began giving tithes my life went shipwrecked so I will continue to seek and continue my faith walk.

God Bless

James's comment on 2015-03-31 14:17:23:

I know people want to receive God 's blessings, but giving to God to receive a blessing from God is not the correct attitude of the heart. Also, Malachi 3:8 is speaking to the priests keeping and stealing the tithes from the Levites who had already collected them from the cities of Judah. Only the priests were allowed to stock the storehouses. This is not any easy verse to understand without reasonable knowledge of Levitical Law and the testimony of other minor prophets- Nehemiah in particular. To keep adding to my argument, there is no tithing required in the New Covenant- only in the old the "Law " or Mosaic law . The Apostle Paul clearly stated we are no longer under the law but grace Ro 6:14 . Jesus taught about cheerful giving and giving as a responsibility to support the church as the Lord leads. See Carol 's comment from 2014-02-14 below. She addresses New Covenant giving perfectly.

With all do respect, I gave tithes and my life appeared to worsen. I stopped given the same thing. I also gave offering. All I know is that I did both notice things spiraling downwards. I lost whom I believe was my divine mate, home, money, hair, respect from children due to my relationship with God my faith . I am now giving the 10 5 offering. Life has been hard as I seek a deeper relationship with Yahweh of Host. If done nothing but struggle thus far. I meditate, pray, believe God 's word. I read the bible seeking God to talk to me as He did in the biblical days for "He change no ".....Still waiting expectantly for the windows of of Heaven to open pour out such blessings that there won 't be room enough to store it. Do believe in God, do believe His word is true, however, it 's the time timing He just didn 't say when!

If malachi 3 8 is yardstick for christian giving today, then all of us are robbers.......who robbed god? The passage is talking about levith that suppose to pay tenth of tenth..........read. From chapter 2 of malachi and answer the question by ueself....

Constance's comment on 2014-08-19 02:39:59:

from my understanding of tithes will a man rob God they were talking about the priest they were robbing God.but instead of the pastors saying the bills have to be paid where we fellowship the will use Malachi 3 8 to tried to control the saints of God.How will we be curse if Jesus paid it all on the cross obedience is what will get you to reign with Jesus. You can 't pay your way into heaven. besides the tithes were for the levite they were poor people.i 'm not saying don 't tithes but be lead by the spirit and give with a cherrful heart. but there are 4 types of tithing which one are we gonna used.Tithing Obedience First fruits Alms giving sowing seeds most pastors won 't teach about what the scripture says because if they tell the truth the people may not tithe.

Before the church began which was with Jesus, there was the Law it was written for Israel, they were not to break these laws and they did, this scripture is for Israel and not the Church, when we study we need to know that the Old Covenant was not ours it belonged to Israel, The Old Covenant is for our Learning.

God owns everything in this world things are loan to us as we make our journey through life God is teaching us about giving when we do tithes The church cannot maintain itself so that s where tithes comes in but there are priest who use the tithes as there personal cash which is robbery

Carol's comment on 2014-02-14 19:03:51:

No one should be tithing 10 of your money to anyone unless God through prayer tells you too God blessed you with health and strength each day to go out there and make it happen and then you just want to give your blessings away to most times ungodly people Pray instead God will always lead you to help the right person that needs your help The right time to give Each day look around you That person at the bus stop can you give them a ride Ask God if it s ok I promise he will answer you God knows your situation and what you are capable of Let God lead your life and get your head heart out of the way I promise you will be amazed and truly blessed Love Jesus with all your heart soul and mind He loves it

I've been tithing all my christian life 3 years ago when everything got out of control about the prosperity gospel I started seeking after truth then jesus said follow me. I syop tithing 3 years ago to find out for myself if I will be curse the thing is I only learned that God is love he has great plans for us and our children will be bless by the lord. People really made God to be ugly and selfish. Pls understand Jesus paid the price once and for all my finances is restored my relationships with friends and family is beautiful now I find out for myself that when you love God others benefit from that love if you want to touch God you touch someone or love someone you see I'm doing good no curse there its not about paying or not paying but because he has made us righteous set us free from the curse in his last words TETELESTAI. IT IS FINISH

In the book of Malachi I understand that God was conversing with the priests. Weren't the priests misusing the tithes and offerings effectively robbing God ? Also if I were to give my tithes to God in order to get a blessing, does that make God some kind of servant? Where I say to God, here I've paid you, now you owe me. I really don't think God was speaking to us, but to the priests, or am I wrong?

edgar's comment on 2013-10-19 10:42:34:

It has always been Gods principle for us to sacrifice through giving, what is important here is obedience for it is greater than sacrifice, faith cometh by hearing and hearing / obeying the word of God .If we give tights we are activating our faith that God will in return bless us

WILSON MUTOKAA's comment on 2013-09-18 07:44:58:

Malachi 3:8 is about Tithing. If you don`t Tithe, then you are robbing GOD. A robber takes when the owner is looking and by force. God knows what we earn and that we are supposed to give because he gave us. Stealing is different because we take without the owner`s knowledge. so we rob GOD if we don`t follow MALACHI 3:8.

Takiyah's comment on 2013-08-30 22:44:56:

Malachi 3:8 is talking about giving 10% back to god. Its obeying the word of god. I have to start given my tithes and offering so I can receive my blessing. I serve a good god and I have been selfish toward him but, I'm paying for it now. Everyone lets go get our blessing because I know I'm going to get mine.

Ben's comment on 2013-08-25 08:49:15:

It means to (mandatory)givr 10% of your earnings when you receive your earnings. Offering isn't as mandatory as tithes. But you are asked to give. Doest have to be money it can be a piece if clothing or just something that can be of service to someone else.
I do have a question though. I was told titheing was for those of the old testament. That it is not mentioned in the new testament. That we are to live by faith Gods grace and simply obidience but as for titheing. That isn't a must in the new testament. Please give me understanding
Thank you

sumith's comment on 2013-08-21 16:11:38:

this should only be given to Levites.and only Israelites should contribute one tenth. Also through agricultural products and live stock.Nowhere in the bible says,10% of the salary should be paid to God s work, But christ has his own theory about giving to others.

coop's comment on 2013-05-03 01:15:26:

i think titheing is giving ten percent. I never had done it before until a Christian friend and I had several conversations about it. I also talked to my pastor about it. He was very compassionate. I felt like I already had an understanding about what it meant but kept finding excuses to not give my ten. I was very poor at the time. That was my biggest excuse. I sometimes, even now-six years later, try to talk myself out of giving my tenth. But after I started doing it, everything changed for me. God made sure I had enough to go on, though my bank acct never really balanced. I can't explain it. He just took care of me. All this, even though my wife went from a $50,000/yr salary to nothing due to layoffs, economy, etc., and I went into ministry, and was being paid nothing. It is unbelievable, I know. God works miracles, folks. That's all I know.

mark's comment on 2013-04-17 16:22:46:

it is obvious to me they said and answered the question it was not god speaking after "In tithes and offerings" it was the priests and i come to this conclusion because god said "But ye say, In what have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings."
Jesus said well render unto god what is gods and he gave us free will to humble it back to him and life by faith that pleases him!

LaRose C. Johnson's comment on 2013-02-18 18:21:25:

I now understand what it means to tithe by giving 10 percent.
