The Bible states that humans have neither the ability nor the right to govern themselves. Jehovah did not create us with the ability to do that for ourselves, especially not in our imperfect condition. However, If we are humble and willing to depend on Jehovah God, He will impart to us his holy spirit as a sure guide for our steps.

John 15:5 FOR WITHOUT ME YOU CAN DO NOTHING.
He that stays in me, and I in him, the same brings forth much fruit: for without me you can do nothing.

John 15:4 No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither CAN YOU BEAR FRUITS UNLESS YOU REMAIN IN ME.

GOD CREATED US FOR HIS PLEASURE AND HIS JOY AND HIS PURPOSE. GOD IS HIGHLY HAPPILY GLORIFIED IF HUMAN BEING WILL FUNCTION FOR THE PURPOPOSE FOR WHICH HE HAD CREATED US. When the revelation about Jeremiah 10;23 was given me, I woke up from sleep and started to examine my self. The prophesy is all about Christ Jesus
John 6:38 For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me.
Revelation 4;11
King James Bible
Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

This verse shows that it is not our right to direct our own way in life independent of God. So many people try to do this, but they will not be sucessful because this verse clearly shows that we were not meant to be without God. We have to look to God to direct our steps in order for our way to be sucessful.

This shows that Jeremiah had love for Jehovah and equally put faith in him. He feared Jehovah and served him with his heart.

This scripture in Jeremiah 10:23 is an inspired word that tells mankind that we need divine direction from Jehovah to succeed in our daily lives. As when he was God and King of the Nation of Israel they prospered, but when they wanted a king from amongst themselves they did not fare well. Just look at the rulers of the world today. Thank goodness God's Son (Christ Jesus) who has repurchased mankind will serve as a King of God's Kingdom and will rule until time indefinite. This rulership will once again direct mankind's footsteps in true righteousness.

Not Wesley's comment on 2011-02-07 03:09:59:

I am not sure who Wesley is and why his "notes" are posted here. But, what he has written there is certainly not what Jeremiah 10:23 says. There is no mention of judgments or the diversion of judgments in any of the translations. And there is certainly no mention of the moderating or limiting of anything by anyone in any of the translations. They simply state that man does not have the ability to direct his own step. (a point that is easily evident with the increasing chaos, disorder, lack of love and lawlessness that we see in the world today.)

ACCURATE knowledge is the only knowledge.
