John Wesley's explanation of Eph.5:26, touch the work done both by 'the word' and by 'water-baptism'. The word 'washing' used here is the translation of 'loutron' and that refers to 'washing by immersion'. So this passage is talking about Jesus cleansing the Church thro' water-baptism engendered by Gospel-preaching and administered by the word- in the Name of Father, Son and the Holy Spirit!
