Those are lovely truthful comments you have given, Adebayo. If only Christ's Church do as you do, by not only supporting the work of the ministry, but also looking out for those in need. Then the Gospel becomes more meaningful when the one being helped sees the Love of Christ in action, whether through monetary gift or other help. It is a nice write up. I have come to understand that given is not only limited to church. Even the given of tithe to the Church is not compulsory. Tithe as it is referred to that it must be 10% is not so. If you have the capacity to give more than that why not and vice verse. God would never be on you that you must pay tithe. I don't argue this issue with any pastor again. Sometimes I decided to give my tithe to the poor in the church instead of given it to the church and eventually the tithe is taken to church headquarters leaving members of the local church in abject poverty.
The issue of tithe, we must understand that God does not spend money. We must understand that whatever we are giving to the church or to anyone is an act of worship to the Lord. So, God expect us to give willingly and not as compelled to do so. Some pastors even went to the extent of saying if you don't pay your tithe you would go to hell. So . Some people say if they see a sick member of their churches that need money to take care of himself they preferred to take the tithe to church than given the money to the sick man. I called this hypocrisy. When you Jesus has already told us that when you do this to the least in my house you have done it onto me. Where is the Christ like in that act if we claim to be following Jesus.

I have always believed that one is only able to give as he is able. If a rich man gives 10 and a poor man gives 10 that would not be fair . As we cannot gauge our giving according to 10 . My 10 could mean that I am not able to feed or put a roof over my child 's head. So I know that God being a fair judge would not expect me to give 10 only what I am able. There is another scripture pertaining to that of which I have found but cannot. Should you have it I would appreciate that. I also believe that all your giving does not have to be to the church which spends and wastes money , such as trips , hugh pianos etc. I know the churches need some donation for cost of heat hydr etc but have gone away beyond what God wants them to do. I do not believe they need the quantity of paid staff and ministers such as they have. Years ago people donated their time and did not have for example paid youth leader. That was better in many ways such as the youth leader who donated his time would grow in the lord etc. etc. Also the money went for taxes years ago and the church has this given 10 worked to the limit of getting money from the people some I am sure do not even have it in their budget to give and makes people feel guilty if they do not. I believe that giving of ones self and even people that you know is including in the site of God to be one 's giving. There is greater reading pertaining to giving in the old testament which do not mean bring all your money to the church
