I sure don 't think we are supposed to fight for authority. We can be actively teaching in many areas. He said he is not suffering them, he is not putting the burden on them to fight for the right. Personally I don 't have an issue with this, everyone is in charge of something because we have different gifts and we should all bring them to the table to serve God not self.

I do believe if God use a donkey to speak , than a woman can give the Gospel, we are call according to the purpose, of the will of God , we are to preach, the acceptable time, the Gospel of Jesus , no one but God will close my mouth, and tell me not to give the word of God,

SHea's comment on 2015-04-27 08:57:25:

As a woman.... I 'd say it IS suffering to be asked to teach or have authority over a man! The guy needs to have authority over himself and teach himself and to ask me to do so is asking me to bare a horrible frustrating suffering that I would never want!!!! Let him learn on his own first and then seek me out!!!

Well than what do people have to say of Pricilla and Aquila who taught Apollo an evangelist of the 1st century?

DON STEPHENS's comment on 2015-04-13 10:17:08:

either we take the word of god literally or we take it figuratively. If figuratively then there is no literal salvation, and if we are to take it literally then we are to believe the whole word of God literally. For heaven and earth shall both pass away but not one jot nor one tittle of Gods word shall pass . God does not intend for woman to be in control nor for her to be the head of anything.

John's comment on 2014-12-07 15:56:13:

Is some scripture to be obeyed literally and other not? If there appears to be a conflict should we not have some criteria which we apply to all. How can one prohibit women from teaching men, but sanction women not wearing head cover, women singing in church, women teaching men in adult "Sunday School ", men wearing caps in an outdoor service is this not the same as in church . How about women teaching christian men at a university, or worse yet a bible college? Paul was against Judaisers who taught obedience to the law, but in deference to custom personally recommended certain rules. He also said that all spiritual gifts were worthless without love. Come, lets show a little consistency and some love.

I take this verse literally because I have no reason not too.Paul explains the reasoning behind this. The fact that Eve was the one deceived not Adam. Why on earth do you think that satan tempted Eve not Adam. Is it not possible that women perhaps are more open to deception?Paul obviously thought so.I am not chauvinist. I will open the door for any lady. Even put my coat in the puddle Some of the young ones wont have a clue about that statement . But I dont see anywhere in the old testament that women taught in the temple. That was God 's choice and as far as.i am concerned that must be His pattern for Paul would have based this scripture on what he was taught from old testament guidelines. He didn 't have the new testament. If we want to go against the word of God.we will suffer the consequences. That also is God 's pattern!!

In 2nd Timothy 1 5 Paul gives credit to Timothy 's grandmother Lois and mother Eunice who were both leaders in their home churches since there were no church buildings at the time for his enduring faith. He also salutes several other women leaders as deaconess. At the time he wrote this the sex goddess Diana was the main idol to worship and women were bringing this into the churches at Ephesus where he was living at the time. Read the letter to Ephesus in Revelation chapter 2. In Act 2 11 it says he will pour out his spirit on his handmaidens and they shall prophesy.

It 's interesting reading so many strong feelings on this subject. Some are ready to send others to the Lake of Fire for their opinion it seems. My question I think is simple. Has God put His presence on any of these women who are preaching, praying, and developing ministries that save live and souls. If He is then the verses meaning may need some reconsideration. If God is doing nothing through these women then its common literal translation should stand.

jim's comment on 2014-08-10 19:42:25:

this is a command not a bone so don 't spit it out to obey is better than sacrifice I would rather do what it says and be wrong than do what I thought and be wrong galations 5 1 stand fast therefore in the liberty where with Christ has made us free and be not entangeled again with the yoke of bondage

John Sturza's comment on 2014-06-29 11:53:52:

The word of GOD from genesis to revelation is the God breathed word. If you choose to not believe it that is your choice. God will deal with you. And if you teach and lead others astray He will also deal with you. The church today chooses to interpret scripture the way they choose not the way God chooses. We are so far away from God and how church or fellowship is meant to be. Read acts 2 42.The scripture says what it means and means what it says.

Woman came from man, it was eve that was deceived. Not Adam. Also in the next chapter God give the qualifications on who can preach.

Romans 16 3 Prisca is greeted first before her husband because her prominence as a house church leader. Romans 16 1 Phoebe is greeted as a deacon diakonos Romans 16 7 Andronius and Junia are greeted as apostles before him. 1 Corinthians 16 19 Again Aquila and Prisca are greeted as house church leaders. Also greeted again as such in Acts 18. When you look at the whole body of work there is diversity on this subject.

Adv. Chambale's comment on 2014-04-01 22:02:08:

I don 't think it is important for us to argue about this verse. Jesus said it is important for him to go so that the Holy Spirit can come and be with us. The Holy spirit will guide us into the whole truth. When Paul wrote that verse, He was lead by the Holy Spirit. My spirit as I write here now tells me that women must be submissive to their Husbands. It therefore does not make sense for them not to be submissive in Church. God always chose men to lead... but then humans have a tendency that makes them think that God is Democratic. He is not.

Tirell A. M. Clifton I, MDiv's comment on 2014-03-22 05:12:44:

The words of Paul are not the words of Yahweh Other than this passage in the Bible which many people consider to be scripture but actually reflect the writer s personal desires in several places I have no recollection of the Almighty declaring anything along the lines of any woman not being able to lead a man in anything Paul s epistles do not rise to the same level of the Scriptures that he himself were taught from his youth Recall how he did not write the same thing to each church and addressed different matters in relation to their respective situations It took me a long time to figure this out and I am grateful that the blinders have come off

I have taught young couples in S S and also have used women bible teachers when men attended I believe with my whole heart that women are not supposed to be pastors nor leaders in the church but in my study of the scripture I do believe this is talking about a wife and husband relationship woman and wife are synonymous in the bible Who was the first evangelist A woman all the men ran and left when Jesus arose from the dead including Peter and John When God created man He told him all he could do but not eat of the tree of good and evil it was some time before Eve was created so who do you suppose told Eve she was not to eat of that tree It had to be Adam read the whole 2nd chapter of Genesis I believe what God says in His Word TRUTH

I understand and accept what the word says and I'm not trying to misinterpret but what can be said about women singing in the church or music leaders? Is that considered as usurping mans authority ?

simon's comment on 2014-01-26 04:39:24:

lets not take scripture out of its proper context. people have many interpretation of scriptures but the bible only have one true interpretation. Paul said I (personal) suffer not a woman to teach. a woman has all right to teach if a man (leader) suffer them to. in that way the man is in authority and not the woman.

Mike's comment on 2014-01-22 05:17:27:

Suffer means to tolerate. Tolerate means allow or accept. Usurp means to take power or control without the right to. @Jon's comment YES Huldah was a woman! But in 2Kings22:12-14 they went looking for Jeremiah, but he was not in Jerusalem. In Jeremiahs absence, the Kings messengers went to Prophetess Huldah which THEN Gave her the RIGHT to speak. Without the RIGHT to speak from the Kings messengers she would have been Usurped.
