Aaron Khoo's comment on 2012-05-18 07:33:55:

The word "If" is not "Ean" in Greek but "EI" . We are often comfortable with "if" which means a condition that is not yet fulfilled, a hypothetical condtion with the possibility of a future realization. But in this verse the "If" have the idea of "ASSUMING THAT YOU CONTINUE IN THE FAITH, ie CONTINUANCE IN THE GOSPEL AS IT WAS PREACHED BY PAUL WOULD SHOW THAT THE PERSON WAS SAVED AND THEREFORE WOULD BE PRESENTED HOLY WITHOUT BLEMISH AND UNCHANGEABLE BEFORE GOD. It is not the retention of salvation but the possession of salvation shown by their continuance in the gospel.
