As proof of Gods acceptance of the sacrifice for our sins were paid through the death of His son ie the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus and then God raised Jesus from the dead showing that we are now justified because our sins have been paid for.i see it like an acknowledgement just like in the old testament when a sacrifice was consumed by fire it showed that God was pleased with the sacrifice by raising Jesus from the dead and thereby proving to man that He was justified through faith in the work of the cross.
