“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”
King James Version (KJV)

The terms "by," used twice in the Greek text for this Verse is actually the preposition "out of," as a source.
We know from scripture that faith is a fruit of God's Spirit. It is not of man. Faith is produced by God's Spirit. We cannot produce biblical faith ourselves. We have human faith, but that is different than the faith that the bible speaks of. Faith is a word that describes the presence and activity of God's Spirit in a believer's life. The word faith itself literally means persuasion.
The literal translation from the Greek text for Romans 10:17 should read "So then faith comes from "out of" hearing, and hearing from the word of God."
Faith comes to us from out of hearing God's word. His Spirit ministers to us and persuades us and gives us the faith to do what God wants us to do out of the hearing of His word.

What does it mean faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God.

Salvation is for those that put their trust in HIS finished work, then boldly unashamely confess HIS Lordship in your life. Paul set the tone when he declared that he is not ashamed of the gospel for it is the power of GOD unto salvation.
MockingBird's comment on 2014-07-27 04:41:00:
I must confess with my mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in my heart that God raised Jesus from the dead and I shall be saved I will be raised from the dead death of trespasses and sins. I will be raised to newness of life . Death has no more dominion over me. It comes against me but it has no dominion over me. Right now in this my life I can experience freedom from sin and death. Death is separation from God. Anything that breaks up there is death separation.

I must remember my action speeks louder than my words. I must now learn the scriptures that teach me the actions I "must do" & learn the scriptures of the actions I "must stop doing" remembering King David, when he told God he was sorry he "NEVER DID IT AGAIN". AMEN...

Thanks be to Almighty God through Jesus Christ my Lord and Saviour for Salvation for all who believe that Jesus Died to save all men. We who believe that by His Blood we have been washed, and redeemed for all sin forever. The penalty for sin has been paid on the cross. We now have received the Righteousness of Jesus Christ if we believe. I believe that I am saved and Jesus will raise me up the last day. Praise the Lord!!

I think and I know with a strong believe of faith that Confession brings possession in Christ JESUS.
Forest Brooks Hall's comment on 2013-10-12 17:29:17:
It wasn't until I read this verse one evening at work after seeking the man Jesus for more than a year that I finally understood. It happened (my belief) a year after being told I should learn to know Him. I had read this verse just before break and went to our break room and told everyone who was there the words which changed my life. It was then, after everyone laughed, that I realized I had come to the place of salvation and the Word spoke to my heart. I was 27 years young. I'm now 66 years young, a child of the King! I still get those goose bumps.
Bolarinwa A.'s comment on 2013-09-16 11:49:21:
confessing that Jesus is lord in this dispensation entails more than just saying it with your mouth. The confession here must be born out of a strong belief from the heart.
Russell's comment on 2013-09-04 13:04:20:
Don't stop at that one verse. The explanation is given in the next verse...Romans 10:10...For with the heart manbelieveth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. And then 10:13...for whosoever shall upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Paul's comment on 2013-05-10 00:49:46:
Are you saved NOW in the present tense or at the 2nd Coming of Christ Jesus? And if you are saved NOW in the present tense, can you lose your salvation?
Ruben Rodriguez's comment on 2013-02-02 20:00:33:
The passage says: that if you confess The Lord Jesus with your mouth thou shall be saved. He is not telling you to say that he is Lord, because guess what, He is LORD of Lords and King Of Kings weather you say it or not. But if you say it with your mouth that Jesus is your Savior thou shall be saved. The NIV readers are the ones that put it that way. Peace to all.

it is pure holy word of God which directs us to eternal life ,we are saved by blood of Jesus ,the very purpose of creation of mankind is to worship the almighty god "Yahweh"
