“For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.”

I think that as in many other cases in Revelation a book written in times of persecution some ideas were written in code so that Romans could not hold it as a proof against the Christian who carried it. The Roman way of life, with its many excesses, was a negative model for the Christian who seeks not the pleasures and powers of this world, but love and the kingdom of God after this life. The symbolic value of the dog here in the context of those left outside the city where life is or without the definitive happiness may describe a type of person in relation with its animal negative qualities: promiscuity, lack of shame for bodily functions, anger or rage towards strangers, maybe the act of being submissive to another man who provides food or worldly rewards, instead of seeking the spiritual higher calling of God.

I think the mention of dogs in this verse is referred to people who just cant seem to get it right Dogs eat or play in waste that has already passed through their body The mess they go back to isnt good for nothing but the sewer After JESUS delivers us from our sins or the horribe state we were in lets not give into the dog spirit and go backwards and miss heaven Also stay away from others who induldge in this type of behavoir

I love the World English Bible version because it mention "the ***ually immoral" in the verse because I believe it is unholy. It's a wonderful and effective verse identifying unholy things/elements.

I think that it may be related to the Garden of Eden, when God made man in His image, Genesis 2:8, 3:23. Genesis 4:16 tells of Cain going to the land of Nod and starting a family, whom God had marked for other men not to slay him. Maybe that Revelation 22:15 could be talking about that. Outside the Garden. Thank you and please write back to tell me what you think. Hope I expressed myself right. JESUS IS MY LORD! David.
