To get to Thee Table I WILL NEED A.God's Rod 1. Protection B. God's Staff 1. Guidance Without His Protection and Guidance I will get killed. The only way to this Table is with God's Protection and through His Guidance. May God's Richest and Best Be Yours

Every living being has enemies. God knows this that 's why he made these promise, trust and obey he will surely do what he says. After all he 's not a man that he should lie.

He prepares a table for me " in the presence of my enemies ".This tells us that God knew that we will have enemies spiritual and otherwise , so it shouldn 't take us by surprise, God made provision to counter that, since He is God who is all knowing and God of Mercy. So,lets confront our enemies with the right attitude not fear, for we know that fear is not our portion but confidence is. The table will be prepared right on the face of our enemies,God said it, and He is no man that He can lie. It shall be done,

This is perhaps my favourite section of the Old Testament...the Psalm reflects David 's life....would like to get commentaries on the last verse...Thou preparest a table before in the presence of mine enemies...Thou annointest my head with oil...

God s an Awesome God Because he loves us I have a shield around me where every I go and not even my enemy can harm me In no way will I be without with Him he provides all my needs and more

Cheryl's comment on 2013-10-20 12:44:18:

God is so awesome, gracious and merciful (He) God allows us to come to the throne room of "Mercy and Grace" even when we make mistakes and then we can always go back to him with a repentent heart. And after all is said and done (He) God is so forgiving He still will prepare a table for us in fromt of our enemies.

scott's comment on 2013-05-25 12:12:40:

As many times as I have read this verse I had never really noticed the surreal image of eating a feast in front of my enemies. Certainly the most wicked of all my enemies are my own thoughts, the things I say to myself about me. None of my enemies is more cruel to me than I am to myself. I have struggled with drug addiction, alcholism and mental health problems all my life God saved me from booze and drugs many years ago. But I continue to be my own "worst enemy" with my repetitive, recurring thoughts. God gives me the confidence to not only "face" my fearful, wicked thoughts but indeed to sit face to face with them at a banquet table and enjoy the feast God has prepared for me. He not only feeds me but delivers me, from my enemies, from myself.

Joe Glascock's comment on 2011-03-21 17:37:59:

23:5 ".....my cup runneth over" : This is Davids attitude as to how God takes care of him, and should also be ours, ....God not only knows our needs, he more than supplies them. This is also a referrence to hospitality in Davids time, if a guest sat at the table for a while with an emty cup, it was time to go, if your cup was full, it meant you were welcome to stay, if it ran over, it meant you were more than welcome!
That is Gods attitude about us, we are more than welcome to come boldly before his throne, to pray for special requests, but our basic needs are more than met!, they "runneth over", the way and everything we need has already been prepared ahead of time!
