This thought is connected to the last verse. In verse 94, David asked God to save him. In this verse we see from what that request is formed. David life was plagued with enemies and they continually sought opportunities to kill him. Living under the gun as David did probably was part of the reason David's walk with God was as close as it was. David was in constant need to hear from God.
