The proud have dug pits for me. Anyone who lives godly for any time at all may attest to that. I believe the pits are lies and deceit used to tear David 's character down, as they do all godly. One thing these wolves have in common is their distain for God 's word, "which are not after thy law ". I believe the Law 's standard is so far above these characters and so condemning, that it enrages them. Their love for sin is so strong that anything that would threaten their involvement in it must go.
