David is being brought low by the afflictions he is going through God seems to be absent however David 's faith is strong. He is not about to bail out on God. It 's said that hard times either make us bitter or better. You can see by David 's response that it made him better. The true believer in Christ will stand obedient and withstand all test. He is not trusting in feelings but the word of God.

just a great simile I was reading psalm 119 before church service started and was struck by this line Had to research its meaning
