I would like to clarify the word precious from the original Hebrew,it means costly. It is the same word as precious metals which are costly. When a man or woman of GOD dies it means that there are or is one less or more living believers to sing praises unto HIM,worship HIM,and most important is to be a believing WITNESS FOR HIM.WE are all appointed for death, unless we are alive at the return of our LORD at the seventh trump with our loved ones who have gone before us and are with the LORD. It pleases God to see His saint struggle with sin all his her life time and finally overcome. His her departure on earth and arriving in His presence is an addition to the crowd of witnesses in heaven. It is a precious sight for the Lord to see His saint riding on death as a horse to His glorious presence. It is majestic for a saint to approach heaven as a conqueror of enticing sin, worldly pleasures and standing righteously tall in the perverse, corrupted, polluted, worldly systems. It is a precious testimony to end one 's life in the Lord.

Precious in the sight of Jehovah, is the death of His saints. When the Lord called my father home to glory, from labor to reward, I thought of this verse. My father had been a Pastor for 27yrs, and a minister for 62yrs. He had been preparing us that the Lord was about to call him home. He told me it is appointed unto us to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and also to suffer for Him. As Paul said I have fought a good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the Faith. What a testimony to give when facing death. God makes all things beautiful in His time. When we all get to heaven what a day of rejoicing that will be; when we all see Jesus we will sing, and shout the victory!!!

I think this verse means that God is pleased when a Holy Spirit filled believer departs from this earthly life and steps into His presence. This is only possible because God sees a good and faithful servant. He knows that this believer was totally committed to serving God faithfully and obediently in spirit and truth.

I love this verse b/c I recently lost a loved one and I know only the Lord could help me to deal w/my grief. I had to really break down this verse and get everything I could out of it. I figured that God considers it as of significance; that his Saints death is united with his vast preparation and that there are great intentions when carrying out death of a good man.
