Mans thoughts and ways are foolishness in gods sight. So lean not on your own understanding.only he will guide us into holiness and righteousness.

Wisdom is God 's word : Understanding is knowing how to use the word of God in my life.

I love this scripture. It helps me to go past just the acquisition of knowledge and information. Wisdom imparts direction and a bigger picture also of how and when knowledge may be applied in a situation. The law could kill a matter, but the Spirit wisdom always adds life.

Malcolm's comment on 2015-02-07 00:19:37:

"Wisdom is the principle thing " I seem to recall that what translates from Hebrew to English as the principle thing is the same word or perhaps root word that means "head ", one of those profound and poetic types of phrases that seem to add another dimension to the passage. Fitting because wisdom and understanding involve the head already. So instead of wisdom just being in the head, this proverb declares that wisdom itself is the head.

Wisdom speaks for a man, without wisdom and understanding we are incomplete. God is wisdom, He is understanding, ask for wisdom and understanding and it is yours.

though it cost all you have (NIV), though it cost your "name", your "street cred", your possessions your time, your relationships, your intellect, your reasoning, your entire being, what ever you think, seek His wisdom & truth, everyday, even though you may not understand, get onto your knees, open your bible and seek Jesus' face & His love.

Get wisdom, and keep on getting it filled with insight (understanding.) Knowledge alone doesn't help if you don't have wisdom, so acquire wisdom. Knowledge teaches you how to load a gun. But only wisdom would know when you should pull the trigger.. without that insight, you'd be a loaded gun, an accident looking for a place to happen! Get wisdom, and with all your getting, get understanding. How??? Through your spiritual relation with Christ. Let Him live richly in you, He will impart God's wisdom to you. He will make you wise. Obey Him, Listen to Him, and He will make you wise. Understand it's not your own thinking, it's His.

First I realize that I am not my own. I mean my body, soul, and spirit belongs to God. Wisdom tells me the only way that I can live a successful christian life is to stay on top of the flesh because at my weak points the flesh will cause me to miss the mark or miss my goals as a born again christian. My sins are overeating, letting bad habits rise up and take control of my life. Without physical and spiritual discipline good intentions will not hold up on judgement day.The day that I will have to account for what I did while here on earth. Therefore I am not my own, I belong to God and will have to account for every idle word and action while I am on this earth.
