To Mr sighns reply:Jesus is our only mediator and does pray for us,the Holy Spirit does when we know what not to pray, and Jesus most definitely prayed for his disciples, especially Peter when He said , I have prayed for you Peter, that your faith fail not. This verse is simply saying , take time in earnest prayer alone with God

It stands to reason, at least to me, if the Christ said that "the kingdom of heaven is within you ,and we are instructed to go where the power of the FATHER is, which has nothing at all with your surroundings. Prey for Peace

Closet mean secret and apart from worldly disturbance crowd, noise, praise etc.Closet mean a place where you are alone and detached from people 's activities. Shut thy door mean turn your mind from world toward God. Pray thy God is complex.According to my conclusion pray mean to beg the pardon of God for our sins and to get exemption from world for ever and to merge into God so we may not come again in this sorrowfull word.Prayer is for self exemption. So it should be done in mind by self.If other can pray for us than Christ had the easy way for our exemption.Christ told us the way of praying but couldnot pray for us because it is against the divine law.

Closet should be internal as well as external to avoid distractions.

I think it means a special private place that you choose where you can talk to God just you and him. My special place is my walk in closet in my bedroom. I can tell you from experince he will do just what he said in his word. What you ask in secret he will reward you openly.

i believe it means when we are living in the flesh and not the spirit, when our prayers our selfishly motivated. when we ask god for what we want rather than what he wants.

Sunday Israel Oyedokun's comment on 2013-10-06 09:33:10:

If you patiently read that chapter with understanding, you will find out that Jesus Christ means when you are interceeding for somebody. That is why He said, "for they love to pray standing ....TO BE SEEN BY OTHERS." Then he said' "truely, they have recieved their reward in full."
And what is reward? Reward is a thing that you are given because you have done something good.
So interceeding for people in public means that you want people to speak well of you that you are kind instead of letting God to reward you.

sidney ruiters's comment on 2013-07-16 22:18:07:

it mean shut yourself from the people around you , close your door than enter to JESUS door ,which is an open door

Tiffany's comment on 2013-04-02 12:13:44:

I believe it means the secret chambers of your heart. God see the heart of man. That is the inner part of a man's spirit "the heart" You can be anywhere and pray from your heart. God judges the heart of man.

Bruce's comment on 2012-03-29 16:12:29:

I agree with previous comment,"Enter into thy closet" does not mean Physical Room/Place. It is an internal closet.
