Why would Jesus say "the eye " not the eyes? I believe he was referring to the mind 's eye or our imagination. Our mind 's eye is how we see and believe the promises of God. That 's what is meant by "looking at the things that are not seen ". Jesus always referred to the spirit of man. He tells us "above all else protect the heart, from it flows the issues of life ". He 's not referring to the physical heart but our spirit. We see with our eyes, plural. We work with our hands, not hand. We walk with our feet not foot.

Instead of concentrating the thoughts in the material world if one tries to redirect the power of concentration inside then no doubt the light within can be experienced. I m sure the eye which christ has spoke is not the physical one....

Christ has said 'the eye ' not 'the eyes '.He is not pointing towards two physical eyes. The eye means the strength of soul of seeing. With this strength of soul we become able to see the divine light in our body.So if we awake the strength of seeing of soul or the eye of soul we will enjoy the divine light in the body.

Vision is what is taken from the outside world, but what the eyes see is nothing but a mere deception of what the world is. From this case if your eyes are dark how great is that darkness or deception? What is inside the mind behind the eyes is the light of the body for everything functions through it. Your eyes can go blind but you can still live, you body can be severed but you can still live. The eye that the Jesus speaks of is the mind. The mind is the light of the body which resides inside of the brain that works both conscious and unconscious behaviors of the body. The mind doesn 't refer to a spirit but to a certain state your body is in. If therefore your mind is full of light, light can give off energy and show radiation so will your body. If that light, that energy, that radiation is closed off how great is that darkness? You have no energy, your not radiating, your not shining.

Mathew 6 is a dissertation on treasure. Mt 20 has to do with generosity and greediness. Matthew 25.14-30 explains what use individuals made of treasure entrusted to them, and verse 31 reveals the conditions of judgment to all individuals of all nations. 1 John 3 clears up any leftover doubts for believers.

I think Wesley made the best comment. Your means your INTENTIONS. Whatever you give attention and desire from it, effects not only your body, but your soul. And if your eye be "single", meaning pure or true, the presence of God (the light) will illuminate your life. Peace :)

Matt 6:22 is actually speaking of the Pineal Gland. It is our third or first eye. It's the eye that close when Adam and Eve's "EYES" were opened. The Pineal Gland has the same fluid as the eye. It also has a cornea and a lens but most adults Pineal Glands hes a calcium phosphate biuld-up on it do to poor diet and lack of use.

Now I have a question for you: Do you know what the water of live is? Revelation 22:17.

Hellen Beeldsnijder's comment on 2013-02-16 17:35:37:

Your body = the garden Genesis 2:10. And a river (spinal cord) went out of Eden (brain/arc) to water the garden (body): from there it separated into four headwaters. Pison: urine --Gibon: intestinal tract --Tigris: blood --Euphrates: the nerve fluid.

Hellen Beeldsnijder's comment on 2013-02-16 17:29:57:

Your brain = Eden. Exodus 25:16 cherubs: cerebrum/left and right brain. Thalamus: the arc with the manna and the law of God (Hebrews 8:10), pineal gland: holy of holiest; pituitary gland: the land filled with milk and honey.

B's comment on 2012-11-02 20:08:34:

I believe it to be the pineal gland in the geometric center of the brain.

I think it refers to your third eye chakra
