It seems to me the lord looks to us to resist temptation with the spiritual resources at our disposal. Prayer, the word obedience, faith. When we are done he sends angels to strengthen us. The same sequence occurred at Gethesemane. Only after Jesus declare that His father 's will be done did the angels come to minister to him.
