the ten virgins five were ready with the lamps word and oil to represent the holy spirit five foolish ones brought the word but did not keep the fire burning meaning the holy spirit they were more hearers but not doers.

They are them that believe in Jesus and have mot followed other gods

The foolish took their lamps (souls), and took no oil (Holy Sprit) with them.
