Just an additional note. I have learned that to deny ourselves also, requires we give our Identity of who we are in submission to God.

My comment is on "take up his cross and follow me ". This is the cross on which Jesus Christ was crucified and died. Now if you move about with your cross, you shall be a suitable candidate for paradise, because nothing ungodly shall remain in your life. You shall nail, promiscuity, lies, backbiting etc. These shall all die on the cross which you are carrying. A symbol for "humility just like Jesus Christ " and you are free. Galatians 3 13.

To deny yourself means to say YES to God and say NO to satan

Not by our own works lest any man should boast but by Christ Jesus is the work of the cross completed
