The KJV gives the term 'doctors'. This word is also translated 'teachers or masters' and this would apply to the Rabbis & Scribes. It was not to medical doctors that Jesus was speaking with. Jesus was also referred to as a Rabbi as He regularly taught the people, but not as the other Rabbis would teach (Matthew 7:28,29). You might remember when Mary was at the Sepulchre after Jesus had risen from the dead, when she saw Him, she exclaimed, "Rabboni, which is to say, Master" (John 20:16). But Mary & the disciples knew that Jesus was much more than a Teacher or Rabbi - He was the Messiah, the Son of God.
