Luke 1 records, 13 But the angel said to him, "Do not be afraid, Zechariah, for your prayer has been heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John. 14 And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth, 15 for he will be great before the Lord. And he must not drink wine or strong drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother 's womb. 16 And he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God. This speaks of the work of John the Baptist. Notice that it referes to John 's turning the people to Jesus as turning them to the LORD THEIR GOD. And notice, too, that the angel used the words LORD and GOD to mean the same thing. This means that when the people refered to Jesus as LORD, they meant that they considered him to be God. The sense that the word LORD means GOD has been lost in today 's religious world, but this was not so in the days of John the Baptist and Jesus. What I am saying is, we must bring it back. Paul said in Romans 10 that we must confess "that Jesus is LORD OR GOD " in order to be saved. He goes on further to say that we must also believed that Jesus raised himself from the dead. And he tops it off by saying that anyone who prays to Jesus by calling on his name will be saved. Please consider this!

The Spirit in Elijah and the Spirit in John the Baptist is the same Spirit that belongs in the HeaRt of believers today. God is not divided, there is one body, one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling, Jew and Gentile. Its the Spirit of Christ. In the psalms it says "In the fullness of this book, its written of me{JESUS]"

This scripture strikes a chord in my heart as I hear the calling of the Lord upon my life. People go about in this world, often cavalierly, as if they created themselves. They put food to their mouths without giving thanks to the Sustainer of All, and continuously pat themselves on the back for a job well done, when it is by the grace of God that they were given their wherewithal to complete the task. We must give honor to God for all that He has done, for all the he has created and continues to create, and show gratitude for the smallest to the largest accomplishments in life.
