I am unable to find a detailed commentry on Joshua 16:10.... on your website. I shall be grateful for an answer. Joshua was a man who served God faithfully and did as he was told. So Why were the canaanites not fully destroyed. It does mention the Tribute factor ?

Bethel is a place in Israel that originally was called Luz. Moses is not mentioned in any association with Bethel.

Jacob, in Genesis 28, dreamed a vision of a ladder reaching to heaven with angels ascending and descending on it. The LORD stood above it and spoke to Jacob the Promise. Jacob then named the place Bethel, meaning "House of God".

Jacob's vision was an illustration of Jesus Christ becoming the mediator between God in Heaven and sinners on Earth. Jesus' conversation with Nathanael in John 1:47-51 shows us this meaning.

The inheritance of the children of Joseph was vast and rich, but that did not mean there was no more work to be done. They were given the task to drive out Canaanites but they did not so that they could use them to "serve under tribute" or to work for them. Even if this was against God's will, they did it because it was the easy route, showing that what is easy is not necessarily what is best.
