I think the above comments are on point. Also, there are 3 things knowing the scriptures do: 1. Edification; 2. Increase in God's knowledge and wisdom; 3. For warfare.

But we must turn to Jesus for salvation. The scriptures instruct us on how to obtain salvation, they tell us the benefits of salvation, they also tell us the consequences of not accepting Jesus as our Saviour, but the written scriptures in and of themselves, cannot give us eternal life. They can only lead us to eternal life.

I think it means exactly what it says. The more you search, read, meditate and study the Word of GOD, the closer you come to God on a spiritual level. If we do what the word of GOD tells us then we will find fellowship with Him and He is the Victory that holds the victory and he is victorious. So, to have a relationship with the LORD GOD ALMIGHTY is to be victorious. No matter what happens on this earth to us, good or bad, we still have the victory through Jesus Christ, GOD's Holy and only Son.
