David's comment on 2015-08-30 17:57:45:

The book of Job is pre-flood in origin. The sons of Adam, called the son of God who namely were the sons of Seth, of a direct lineage of Adam, and like Adam were also long lived, still roamed the Earth. Like Adam they also came before God on a regular basis, just as we do, and on one of those occasions Satan was found amongst them, probably there to cause trouble, and God chose to speak to Satan regarding Job. Satan was not in Heaven before the throne of God as can be seen later in the book of Job, but God engaging Satan on Earth. It is not rocket science but as with many other things, this verse is contorted from something simple into something complex so that it v can be used to justify other incredible theories elsewhere in the Bible. Ask yourself, where does this extra this extra theology about fallen Angels lead to in the plan of God other than to lead weaker Christians away from God. To suggest fallen Angels coming before God on a regular basis is to suggest that they are not fallen.

Thanks for information. I actually wanted to understand the phrase 'sons of God '. I believe they were angels on assignment to report. May the Holy Spirit shade more light on our hearts.

I believe that the sons of god are demonic angels who operates in the air, because a part of them did not kept their original estate, the others are made to present themselves to God for accountability.

I believe the obedient God loving Angels are mentioned as sons of God, and as Satan is not in the pit yet and that he roams the Earth and the Heavens. He knows the way of Angels to the Throne of God since was after all one of them one time, before he was expelled from his former God given place. Since his time in the lake of fire has not yet come, he roams around

If "sons of God " in Job 1:6 are human, how could they come to present themselves before the Lord? If God is in Heaven, or not on earth, how could humans come there to present themselves to him? Angels would have been in Heaven. Humans would have been on earth.

This must be seen in context, the Sons of God spoken here are for sure angelic beings, they are not human. They are not the usual angels everybody think of. A deeper study is necessary to bring more clarity and revelation. This was an account of something that happened in Gods throne room. It is important to just also note that the deceiver was among them, for he too is still able to come into the throne room from time to time, to accuse the brethren. Even in times when you do not think it is possible the enemy devil and his demons may try and come to steal, kill and destroy. This is his job, it is what he do, we are to be vigilant and live a total surrendered live to Christ

I believe the fundamental truth is that the book of JOB was written as an encouragement not as historical fact, the inference here is that Job put himself in satans hands through his fear of his sons actions, but remained faithful through the Devils attacks and received double blessing for his actions. The bible is inspired by God and written by men it is a guide to Gods heart starts you on a closer relationship with him. Do we understand the concept of what the writer is saying? Yes, can satan enter heaven I like to think not as all sin is frazzled in Gods presence however is God all merciful will we know the fullness of his mind? Not untill we sit on his lap in that glorious throne room. God will only act on faith, the devil canot act without fear. Settle it and live in joy. Blessings to all.

Genesis says after the birth of Seth that men began to call on the name of the Lord. Every usage of the term "sons of God " used in the Bible refers to fleshly followers of God. Look them all up and read them in context. The two passages in Job are the only references on which many commentaries have concluded that this term must refer to angels. When you consider that Adam equals the created ruddy one, mankind, in the Garden walked with God daily. Cain was distressed because he was sent away from Gods face, he no longer could come before God. I believe he was the first of what would be called the sons of men, those who are not followers of God. Look up all the references to sons of men, there are a lot, read them in context. Job does not say as does not other place in scripture that Satan or any angel is a son of God. New Testament is more specific that the sons of God are those who follow after Jesus. See Matt 5 9, Romans 8 14. Galatians 3 26

It 's interesting that the word Satan is found about 49 times in the entire bible. Revelation makes the link, Satan is the devil, the Dragon that serpent. The sons of God are men that worship God, at no time has God ever called angels his sons read in Hebrews. All believers become sons of God, we receive the adoption of sons.

P.M.B.'s comment on 2014-06-02 05:26:58:

If these were angels, then you are saying that we become angels when we give our lives over to God, because John ch. 1 says that God gives us the power to become the sons of God?

greg's comment on 2014-03-06 13:47:05:

The scripture plainly states the Sons of God were presenting before Him the scripture also states that the Sons of God found the women of earth pleasurable Jesus is the only begotten Son of God the Perfect Lamb of God The sad thing is that scripture says what it says and men try to take the scripture and play God making His word say what they want to profess to know the mind of God If we take scripture at its word and stop with all the self edifying teaching and use it to serve God instead of trying to be God I believe that maybe we could be of one mind If what you are saying does not edify God but makes you feel intelligent then I think you should take a long look at your motives I pray for us all and may God bless us all

rodney smith's comment on 2014-02-17 13:40:33:

The book of Job is not an historical event because Job had no mother and no father God simply allows the wicked human beings to go to and fro to torment the righteous of which Job is an example Only human beings were ever given dominion over all the earth in Genesis 1 26 and not any angelic spirit beings The word satan means adversary and all throughout scripture the adversary or satan of the righteous is the wicked There is nothing supernatural about satan which is just a word that means adversary

I agree with Warren for the most part. Yet, I believe the unseen world should be taken literally, because I believe it to be as real as the air we breathe.

Fritze Flink's comment on 2013-10-22 21:45:43:

Ok, so THIS particular part of the bible is not to be taken literally. But the others are? Or some of them? Which ones are, which ones are not? I am confused. Also to who has authority to tell me which is the one or the other...

jim wan's comment on 2013-08-16 16:24:09:

Book of Matthew Chp 1 gives the genealogy of Jesus back to Adam who is then called the 'son of God'. Except for Jesus the others are not called 'sons of god'. Adam was the 'original'human-kind' created by God. The others (except Jsus)were procreations and decendents of that 'original'. Adam was to be thje 'King' over planet earth. Satan cunningly got Adam to willingly handover that kingship of the planet to him. Satan is now king/god of this world. Adam as the 'son of God' (Jesus is the Son)was to have been present at the heavenly conference instead Satan represented human-kind.
The 'sons of God' in attendance were not necessarily humans or angels but 'original beings' from unfallen worlds/dimendtions/worlds etc They were there to give progress reports on their respective mandates. Adam's was to'tend the garden of Eden and take dominion over the earth by 'multiply(ing) and be fruitful, to replenish and take dominion over the earth which was in chaos.

I often find myself quoting this passage of scripture. It is, I believe, my favorite passage in the bible. Job was the first book of the bible that I read as a child and I have always remembered it. Job message helped me to persevere through many trials. I love him because no matter what he remained true to his faith and love of GOD and I do too.
