S Spencer on Hebrews Ch 6's comment on 2021-04-21 18:31:35:

PG 1.

Lets start with Hebrews 6:4-6 with the view you can loose your salvation.

4: For it is ""impossible"" for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,

5: And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,

6: If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

That sounds like they're saved right? Right.

So if you read that verse carefully with the mind you can loose your salvation "you got one shot at it!!" ( For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened....) ( If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance;...)

You can take this passage and say if you were saved and some how stumbled "a small lie, got angry, ect.." it is impossible to renew you to repentance!! your forever Lost!! Read it again with the view you can loose your salvation.

That does not sound right so now take the passage with the view you cant loose your salvation and say these people was not really saved, "The Calvinist view"

It seems they suffer the same fate! Whether professors or not 'they were once enlightened'.

It is "Impossible" ( for those who were once ""enlightened,"" and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,

And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,

If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance;...)

The unsaved premise seems to also fails. they also got one shot!

I believe the writer is writing to believers, he addresses them that way in Ch 3:1. "Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling",

I don't think this is talking about salvation at all, it don't say renew them again to salvation, it say repentance. The writer is writing to the Hebrews and urging them to maturity, the burden of the writer is not to return to Judaism. Legalism, them becoming fruitless.

ANTHONY UDZU's comment on 2021-04-21 03:26:00:

Man can avoid the curse that is pronounced on him by keeping GOD'S WORD (DEUTERONOMY 11:26-27 KJV). Keeping THE WORD OF GOD is therefore a wise decision because it comes with a blessing.
