He feedeth on ashes: a deceived heart hath turned him aside, that he cannot deliver his soul, nor say, Is there not a lie in my right hand? (Isaiah 44:20 KJV) the. Same wood used for fuel or to cook with is turned into an idol. What an abomination , instead of feeding on the bread of heaven we feed on near ashes, worshiping creation; the work of our hands rather than the Creator: "Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened". Romans 1:21. Let's turn our eyes on Jesus and follow His example when He was tempted: And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. Matthew 4:9, 10
