This has helped me in my understanding about spiritual warfare. We are all, by default, part of a cosmic conflict, whether we realize it or not. As citizens of Christ s future kingdom, we battle every day against the kingdom of Satan, from which we have been saved. Thankfully, we can be victorious, for our King defeated the enemy, through His death and resurrection Heb. 2:14 . The foe was rendered powerless, but his ultimate demise will come when our King, returns to set up His kingdom. In the interim, while we wait, our Lord wants us to draw faithfully upon His power and authority in other words, His provision --- for spiritual victory. To that end we must walk by faith, not by sight.

Verse 14 "Because God 's children are human beings, made of flesh and blood, Jesus also became flesh and blood by being born in human form, for only as a human being could he break the power of the Devil, who had the power of death. " This verse mentions God and Jesus. And it will only makse sense when we understand that God and Jesus are the same. Jesus is God 's person or self expresion. That is, when God expresses himself to the human race he does it as Jesus. That is why Jesus is spoken of as the creator of heaven and earth. John says it this way. "He Jesus created everything there is. Nothing exists that he didn 't make. Life itself was in him. ... " This means that God as Jesus came to the earth he made and gave himself a ransom for the sins we committed. He didn 't have to do it, but he did. This was the greatest display of love a person can know. This further means that the term "Son of God " for Jesus is only a title. That is, when God came to the earth as Jesus he gave himself this title to identify himself to both God and man. He also gave himself other titles, such as Son of Man, Bread of Life, Lamb of God, etc. See, the struggle has always been between God as Jesus and Satan. It makes sense, then, that God would not send a substitute to fight for him, but come himself to defend his cause in this epic battle. This he did, and he won! What I am saying is, Jesus is no stand in, but God himself, giving himself for the sins of the world.
