“Before him went the pestilence, and burning coals went forth at his feet.”
King James Version (KJV)

1 John 4:4 begins with the testing of the spirits, as there are many that are in the world. The Spirit of God indwells every true born again believer, but other spirits can still have sway in believers' minds and lives. The apostle John here is both warning and encouraging his readers that God's Spirit in them will always lead them into Light and Truth, which is what Christ's servants, the apostles, were endeavouring to do. Yet there were many other voices trying to persuade and lead believers away from the Truth to believe lies as Truth; this, says John, are false spirits: the spirit of Anti-Christ. And don't we see so much of it today: sin clothed in the garb of goodness.

can you explain the verse....rnrnYe are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

How do we become perfect in God

Seeing Wesley's comment, regarding this verse, I am encouraged that our God makes room for His people by forcing the pestilence ahead of Him. Even if the many English translations I can read are not 100% clear to me, I would still want to pray to & follow the only God that plagues and pestilence listen to and obey. ? Only a foolish person would want this God as their enemy. Remember,?One Way, Jesus!?

I'm so afraid of this god ... The god who is somehow involved in bringing disease... I am scared to pray to him.
