The"Day" in Genesis 1:5(1:4+1:5)[14th Day and 15thDay of Passover] is capitalized. The word "Day",is a noun. When a noun is capitalized,it becomes a personalized noun. This"Day" is an Personalized Day.This is God's Personalized Day.It is "that Day".It is The Day of The Lord.Genesis 1:3 is not talking about day (as in sunlight),but, rather, the commission of the Gospel,to be sent("there"[Let there(the waters Rev.17:15)be light. The evening and the morning of the Day of the Lord is bumped up into every day of our lives(2cor.6:2[selfsame day]),that we may "know therefore this day(Day),and consider it in our heart".It's really ALL about JESUS!!!!!!+!See these verses(from KJV study bible). [Gen 1:2;IS 40:13;Rom 11:34;Jer 23:18;Jer 23:22;Jer 25:5;IS 55:6;2Cor 6:2]Also,[Gen 1:1;John 1:1;1John 5:20;John 17:3;1Cor 11:4;Deut 4:35;Deut 4:39]Would you like to know more?

Youn are correct!!! The day starts when the sun rises and ends when the goes down. NOT in the middle of the night. Good observation. God be praised.

The evening and the morning . As I'm understanding this verse that our tomorrow's does not start at midnight and that the first day start in the evening and ends same time next evening (our first clock if you don't mind ) if there is a 24 hour period ?

SO WELL SAID

God created, one must know how to create in our own lives. Speaking those things into existence that one truly desires, then knowing what is good and speaking good over our creations

if Genesis 1:5 was THE 1st day then there were no millions or billions of years because time did not yet exist.

Light was created first here. God named it day. Christ said, "Are there not twelve hours in a day? " So we have a day created here, what comes after day, I would say evening, then morning...day one! The rest is history!

REV. HAMILTON PAGAN, M.A.'s comment on 2014-12-08 08:15:10:

Spiritually, there is a messge for us in the creation of day and night.the day shows man there is a new beginning, an new day, a new start, a new arising. the beginning of a new day points toward the beginning of a new life. we are start life all over again we can be born again and be spiritually renewed. we can become a new creature, an new man in Christ. God named the light day, and the darkness He named night. note two facts,1. god , not man named the light and darkness. this very significant. it shows the God is the Lord of both day and night, not man. Light and darkness are both part of God 's creation. both are good both have their purpose and function in God 's creation.

Tony's comment on 2014-09-26 10:06:37:

God could not have been talking in terms of the sunlight because it came later into the creation time frame. So what is the Light and secondly what is the darkness and why does God call them day and night?

I THINK IT WAS CREATION

Abdul Aziz's comment on 2014-01-23 07:03:20:

It is not the creation of earth or the universe in that sense. The universe is the uni (one) verse (word) that contains everything except the One who created it all. The earth is only the rational content in man's (human intellect)that guides to his spiritual destination(that man is truly indebted to G-d). The evening and the morning is the first day. This is consistent with how the human mind develops individually and collectively. Firstly the mind is in darkness (ignorance-evening) about its environment and then in time it becomes enlightened (morning). A light comes on in the human intellect. The scripture says also: The earth (the rational content-remember Adam was made from it) was without shape and form, it was void. Darkness covered the face of the deep and the spirit of G-d moved upon the face of the waters and G-d said, let there be light.

G-d Bless!
