“And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.”

The earth-already existed. God is the God of excellence. Does he create chaos? For who was the earth originally created? What destroyed earth in the first place? The first ruler was found wanting and was thrown out of Heaven. Did he struck the earth and caused the destruction? Did this caused the 1st flood?

Genesis 1 1, 2 relates to a time before the six days outlined above. When these days commenced, the sun, moon, and stars were already in existence, their creation being referred to at Genesis 1 1. However, prior to these six days of creative activity the earth proved to be formless and waste and there was darkness upon the surface of the watery deep. Ge 1 2 Apparently, a swaddling band of cloud layers still enveloped the earth, preventing light from reaching its surface.

Firstly, in verse 1, God created the heavens and the earth, no questions about that, now in verse 2 we are told that the earth was without form and void. We have to determine what void means and also what without form means. someone else in their comments above referred to the words Tohu and Bohu. Tohu refers to a break down,a mess, in shambles or confused. This is what "without form " implies so in actuality an influence or some sort has taken place. so some action has changed the original intent of what was in verse 1, "Order " It was once orderly but now has become confused. So a sentencing has been passed, the state of things has ben judged. So apparently satans fall may have taken place at this juncture, the earth was also void. Naturally meaning emptiness, waste. In referring to satan, Ezekiel says in chapter 28 15 Thou was perfect in thy ways until iniquity was found in thee. So Ezekiel here was privileged to some information or given a view of what was to be. In verse one he says the word of the Lord came unto me. When we look at Isaiah 34, Isaiah 45 we clearly get the understanding of the break down

Genesis has served to address questions held my many. How could you begin to explain what can not be understood? Genesis has done that for many who had no understanding of science and in times before there was an opportunity for education. Genesis fills in the void that is ignorance. It is certainly not a historical record but it is certainly filled with good lessons and principles that should not be wasted even though our understanding of the world and the universe has expanded in modern times.

After SATAN 'S judgment creating chaotic, void less and shapeless Universe Ref Job 38 17 19 29 31 which correspond with Gen1 2 God begun to create birthing everything from that which took place in vs 1 Something that saw God do his work in six day span of time seeing the life of Adam being created, within the time frame of six day.

. That pre creation state is co extensive with that which we call God, namely energy matter in potential, and consciousness will. God must in some sense be conscious of being conscious if there is to be an act of creation. And God must moreover have the attribute of "will " if It is to will the act of creation. That first act of creation had to consist of a change of state from formless energy matter consisting of "no things " therefore complete stillness, and no motion, ie. the aforementioned state of equilibrium to a state of differentiation, in which motion occurs, and "things " therefore appear. According to this account, the reason God created our world by disturbing the primordial bliss state was so that It could have experience, specifically through the differentiated beings of Its creation. In the beginning there was the initial vibration motion which disturbed the equilibrium state that existed prior to creation. Call it the "big bang " if you will, but this scientific metaphor clearly begs the question 1 what is the force which created the motion of the big bang, and 2 from where comes the evident Intelligence which governs the Order that is so apparent in the universe. Creationists call that force "God, " and attribute that Intelligence to It. Science shies away from all talk of God, yet searches everywhere for Order. The realist in me tells me that this is a contradictory quest. A Science that focuses on energy matter ultimately, the laws of motion, vibration, in one form or another will never reveal all the laws of the universe and of creation because the consciousness will aspect of God is as essential an attribute of creation as is energy matter, and the former is different, as a matter of existential category, from the latter.

I believe the earthly realm was there from the beginning and God was going to decorate and beautify it for mankind habitation though it was covered by large bodies of water The main problem I see is DARKNESS that covered the face of the deep The book of revelations tells us about the war that happened between Michael the archangel and Lucifer and how Lucifer was defeated and cast down into the earth Since earth was covered with waters Lucifer had no where to go so he is the one referred to as darkness upon the face of the deep he could not go anywhere it was water everywhere So when God time to create came he had to deal FIRST with the devil darkness with his own word and he said let there be light so the devil was not a factor as far as God is concerned God created everything in the devils presence and the devil did nothing
Sherpherd Randa's comment on 2014-02-12 11:12:22:
Before the beginning of earthly creations there were heavens and the earth in good forms However chaos disturbed the good form of heavens and earth when Lucifer and his angels were fought by Angel Michael and his angels after Lucifer had rebelled against God by trying to overthrow God s kingdom That resulted in the formless heavens and earth So I think when God created heavens and earth it was the features of the earth created Let there be light

David's comment on 2014-01-01 19:32:33:
The earth was a pile of materials and nothing lived here. I think that Earth was without form but well organized. If I want to built a shed I go to the store and get supplies. I get two-by-fours, half-inch plywood, nails, hinges, windows, flooring, and roof tiles. I set them each in a separate pile on the lawn. My shed is without form and void. Nothing is in my shed and you can't specify its form. then I spend time looking at my supplies and wondering how I am going to turn that stuff into a shed, much like the Spirit hovering over the waters. I'm sure the Spirit knows how to make the Earth better then I know how to make a shed though.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:2 The same was in the begining with God.
John 1:3 All things were made by Him; and without him was nothing made that was made.
John 1:4 In Him was life; and life was the light of men.....
we continue to John 1:14 And the word was made flesh, and dewlt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
This explains the beginning. The creation of Good over evil. Think of your mind and your conscience

I think that this scripture became and is a founded establishment of everything that will ever come after that moment, family, business, life in general. I think that what God explains here is the factual truth of how He turned nothing to something. Have you ever tried to imagine why God had to involve Himself with this in the first place. Believe what God says HE saw and how it was . without form- take a pencil and try to make a formless shape, consider it void. every child is born, you are the one who is expecting a bright future, but for him it is void and formless, you then begin to try and make a future out of it, leave every child to himself? he wouldn't survive 2 weeks. God bless His Word.

No such thing as nothingness and/or void, what is meant here is in mankind's development the concept of the unknown, undiscovered, unfathomed mental imagery of anything is exposed to mankind as a diety and/or dieties. Mankind will spend all existence the last 14 billion years) explaining to his/her mind mental existence the unknowness until mankind discovers the reality of nothingness and that which is void, until then mankind will utilize the concept of a diety (god) in mankinds (his/her) image as what is void and unknown.
Ron Schaeffer's comment on 2013-10-27 15:03:51:
My thoughts on Genesis are so complex that few if any understand them. The Earth was without form and void tells me that the earth was destroyed and in a state of chaos. The Light is Jesus who was in the beginning as He is the Alpha and the Omega--the beginning and the end. He is the Word of God and He is God and He was in the beginning with God and the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us. If one is to understand Genesis he must understand the Word of God. Commentary on God's Word is much more complicated than just reading it. However, that being said--we must remember that even a child can understand God's Word. Jesus is the Word of God.
