No Moses Did not know Jesus was calling him

.... "Why me, I am just an old shepherd here in Midian, a place of no significance. But God promises to be with Moses and says the sign to Moses that God had sent him would come after he brings the Israelites out of Egypt-God will lead them to this very mountain and Moses will serve God there. So, Moses does not have a sign up front. So Moses asks God for His name to tell to the Israelites. I do not know if the Israelites had this name for God before this time or if it is a new revelation. We have not been told this. This name YHWH- Eyeheh asher Eyeheh I AM WHO I AM-The ever Present One-He Who Is-speaks to God's eternity and ever present nature as well as having life within Himself , totally self-sufficient and unchangeable, in need of nothing outside of Himself, the Sovereign All powerful One. Would the Israelites know God by this name? God tells Moses to gather the elders and say , "The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob has appeared to me." Tell them that I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt" to the land of Canaan. God assures Moses that the elders will believe him. God continues to tell Moses of his task to go to the Pharaoh and how that will go, from Pharaoh's refusal to the eventual release and the favor the Israelites will have with the people of Egypt. The Egyptians will load them up with supplies and treasures. God calls it a plunder of Egypt, but the people will give it willingly. Perhaps this "plunder" is the wages they earned for all of their toil, as God determined it.

God's instruction show a shrewdness, a guise to go for three days, when the real plan is to leave permanently. God promises to do wonders that He describes as a strike against Egypt. So His wonders will be devastating for Egypt, but the Israelites will be spared any harm.

Here in Chapter 3 we read that Moses was a shepherd for is father in law, Jethro (also known as Reuel). Moses was now 80 years old. He had been in Midian for 40 years. He was pasturing the flock near Mt. Horeb (also known as Sinai) Some scholars think that this mountain is in southern Sinai peninsula (the traditional mountain) and others say it is a mountain in northern Midian on the east side of the gulf of Aqaba. I recommend reading up on this. In either case it is said that tis was the mountain of God. Whether this identification was known then or added later, I don't know.

While there he noticed a bush burning with fire but not being consumed. Moses noticed and drew near to examine this unusual phenomenon. God was present in the flames. Now that is a sovereign God! The one who creates the fire can be within it and not perish! God calls to Moses twice, like he did to Abraham and others. "Moses, Moses!" Moses answers, "Here I am." Did Moses know that it was God calling him?

The text says that the Angel of the Lord appeared as a flame of fire in the midst of the bush. Is this really an angel or is it the pre-incarnate Son of God? The voice tells Moses to take off his shoes and not to come any nearer. God said he was standing on holy ground because God was present in this place. Do we notice the holiness of God's presence when we worship and He draws near to us?

God identifies Himself as the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. This is how the Israelites would have known God.

Moses hid is face as he was afraid to look upon God. Was tis Moses' first encounter with God? God explains that He has heard the Israelites' cry and seen their oppression. God waited until just the right time to deliver them and bring them back to the promised land of Canaan.

But God says he is going to send Moses to deliver them. How surprised Moses must have been to find this out.. Moses is humble, not thinking that he could possibly be the right person for such a task. He must have thought,

Examine what is going on in the world and read Matthew 24 in conjunction with Luke 17, Zechariah 12 and Daniel 11 & 12.

Remember what JESUS said in John 6:63 : "It is the Spirit who gives life, the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life"

My advice to you : Do not submit to the opinions and doctrines of men (flesh), believe JESUS (WORD OF GOD)

Amen

PRAYING FOR RETURNING MILITARY SOLDIERS's comment on 2021-04-29 13:22:59:

Please commit to pray and stand in the gap,

For returning soldiers from Afghanistan. Ask your church to lift them up, every Sunday, corporately.

There is a huge increase of suicide, alcoholism and depression, when military service ends. It's the same for military retirees, as is for those who suddenly find themselves without a job.

It's true. Post traumatic stress is not a joke. It's killing very valuable men and women. They deserve our prayers daily.

When I was a teenager, EVERY DAY at dinner hour, we watched on television, military jets unloading flag draped caskets of soldiers killed in Viet Nam.

To the side of the jet, we saw stretchers or wheelchairs of wounded warriors being transported to military hospitals. We also saw war protesters screaming insults and curses at them! Not welcome bands.

No one should ever be received back from war in such disgraceful displays. Seeing it burned a fire in my soul.

At the very least, we as Christians should COMMIT to pray for Gods Favor in their lives. And I surely do mean as in the scriptures that describe grabbing onto the horns of the altar of God and pour out our requests: as in lay on it, shed tears of sacrifice, over the altar. Keep at it until heaven opens and rains out the answers and help in time of trouble and darkness.

Pray for employment to open to them. Favor in moving out of military housing into civilian communities. Everything. National News isn't going to show us what I saw in the 60's; every single day. I'm testifying. Others my age can offer their testimony also.

Ask your Pastor to mention this often. Ask the praying grandmothers to keep our soldiers covered in prayer. May God bless everyone responding to this call. Thank you Lord Jesus! Commander of the host.

Give honor to whom honor is due.

Mishael

Just about everyone is taking this vaccine out of fear; fear of getting sick, fear of making someone else sick, and fear of dying. 2nd Timothy 1:7 (For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.) Hebrews 9:27 (And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:) You can take a thousand shots, have hundreds of doctors by your side but, this will not save you from death! John 11:25 (Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:) Fear not, praying for you! God Bless.

Hello Mrs. Lucas,

Read Matthew 24, and God will give you a lot of insights to your question.

J2row's comment on 2021-04-27 13:23:36:

Hello Rita,

The answer to your question is no we are commanded in Exodus 20 verses 3-6 to not make any graven images.

Exodus 20:3-6 quotes, "Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:

Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments."

We are commanded by Yahweh not to make any likeness of things that are in heaven where Christ is seated at the right hand of the Father God. Jesus is in heaven above, and no person should be creating any images of Jesus Christ, because we are commanded in His Holy Word not to. No one after His death, burial, and resurrection really knows what Jesus looks like anyway, so all of the pictures people have made of Him will never do Him justice. Also, when Jesus Christ Himself came on earth in human form, He never once commanded the Jews to make any images of Him. Jesus Christ will never contradict Himself by what He says, does, or thinks, never!

Matthew 5:17, "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil."

Jesus Christ came to fulfill the 10 commandments and other laws in the Old Testament. So the Thou shalt not's still are in place forever.

Luke 16:17, "And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail."

Robert M Nkambule - in Reply on Exodus 3:15

By that reasoning, Jesus's name is also wrong. So if Jesus's name is wrong, then what have you been calling the Son of God?

Jehovah is the English translation of the Tetragrammaton. It is also translated to other languages as- Yehowa, Ehoba, Jehov, Jeova, etc.

Robert M Nkambule's comment on 2021-01-21 00:09:07:

The truth about this verse is that the Name of our Creator cannot be Jehovah because:

1. There is no letter J in Hebrew.

2. The pronouncing of our Creator's name can be found in the word HalleluYah found in the book of Psalms and the book of Revelation.

3. The name Jehovah does not carry the meaning that is in our Creator's name
