Acts 10:44-48. It was also to the Gentiles sir. Water baptism in Jesus name. And they received the Holy Ghost by Peters teaching.

Bob,

"Ye shall keep my statutes. Thou shalt not let thy cattle gender with a diverse kind: thou shalt not sow thy field with mingled seed: neither shall a garment mingled of linen and woollen come upon thee."Lev 19:19

"Thou shalt not sow thy vineyard with divers seeds: lest the fruit of thy seed which thou hast sown, and the fruit of thy vineyard, be defiled. Thou shalt not plow with an ox and an ass together. Thou shalt not wear a garment of divers sorts, as of woollen and linen together."Deu 22:9-11

"The Law" is sometimes used to refer to the five books that Moses wrote: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy; but in this case The Law refers to instructions God gave to Moses for the Jewish people living in Canaan.

The Law was given in three areas: moral law, civil law and ceremonial law.

The 10 Commandments were moral law given to the Jews. It began, "I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage."Exo 20:2

They were not written TO you and me. It us TO the Jewish people at that time. We can be instructed by the 10 Commandments and most of those laws are universal. Christians make the first day of the week as their day of rest.

Regarding garments, these prohibitions were designed to keep the Jewish people separated from the Jewish Priests and separated from the practices of the nations that surrounded them. It was civil (cultural) and ceremonial.

This was The Old Covenant. We are in a different Covenant with God, The New Covenant. The Old Covenant does not apply to us. That's not to say that now it's okay to murder, adulterize and steal. Just read Matthew 5. But wear any blend of fabrics you like.

God never allowed the spirits or satan to overcome us but provided a way through Jesus Christ and the the Holy Spirit to Overcome them.

What stands out in this verse is not wearing clothes that are made with two different types of thread.

I'm wondering about the reason why God states this as a thou shalt not.

My guess is that it represents mixture ie: (law and Grace)?

So' excuse me, i need to clean out my closet !!!!!!!! LOL!

Carleton's comment on 2021-03-11 13:34:41:

Can we believe that Jesus knows who will be faithful until the end? We run this life of faith in this hope, that we too may finish this life with our names written safely in the Lamb's Book of Life. So we encourage, so we run!

:)

Mendy's comment on 2021-03-11 08:59:57:

You are actually in error. You are proclaiming submitting to the Lord gets your name in the book of life but this is wrong. When they asked Peter what they needed to do to be saved he plainly told them "repent". If you would like to talk further about it we should start here.

Charles R Peek's comment on 2021-02-22 00:04:34:

Acts 2:38, according to Matthew 10:5-7 is for the Lost sheep of the house of Israel; and first Corinthians 15: verse 3, and 4, are for the Gentiles. Take a look, and let me know what you think.

Maggie K Valentine's comment on 2021-02-14 19:16:06:

Immediately upon submitting ones life to Jesus, and acknowledging His death as the ultimate sacrifice for our dastardly sins; in that nanosecond our names are written in the Lambs Book Of Life. Jesus immediately sends His Spirit to live and dwell in us.

There is nothing we can do or say that will cause the Lord to send His Spirit upon us.

It is a "free gift!" We can't earn it. Then the Spirit would be categorized as "Good Works!"

Absolutely not! When Christ cried out in John's gospel, "It is finished" The sin debt was paid in full!! We did zero to earn the gift of salvation: just as we do nothing to prove to God we are now ready for His Spirit. Positively in error...

VICTORIA FONSECA's comment on 2021-01-02 11:28:10:

Thank you Willie, that is what I thought and that is what I tried to tell this other person but they kept telling me that when peter told the people to repent and be baptize it was directed to the Israel and the gentiles only had to believe through grace but didn't have to repent and that gave me a red flag! I told her it was a command even though baptism doesn't save but it is symbolic symbol of of our new birth in Jesus in the death , burial and Resurrection to the world, and that God calls all to repent

willie's comment on 2020-12-31 18:10:45:

Dear Victoria

Read Acts chapter 10 tells how Peter went to Cornelius, you can go right to verse 45 and the Jews were astonished that the gentiles received the Holy Spirit. Never doubt Jesus love for all who call on him.

Respectfully

Willie

VICTORIA FONSECA's comment on 2020-12-31 16:35:16:

In Acts 2:38 was that for the Jews only or for both Jews and Gentiles? and if for both can I get scripture to back it up, I believe it was for all both Jews and Gentiles, but someone told me that we have to separate Israel and the church

What happens To Our Bodies's comment on 2020-10-25 12:02:41:

Revelation 20:13

And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

If God knows where every body is, in the sea,

I'm sure He knows where people's cremated remains are. ( which contain some bone)

Be at peace In your mind. Mishael

Greg's comment on 2020-10-25 09:05:00:

What is God's stance on cremation? If a person decides to be cremated after dying, does it have any impact on their opportunity to spend eternity in Heaven with God?

HOW ARE YOU FOLLOWING JESUS's comment on 2020-10-22 20:48:14:

read about "the Spiritual Man" by Watchman Nee: its weighty, but thoroughly explains the inner workings of the flesh, our souls and the spirit (which is made alive) upon being born again and sealed by the Holy Spirit.

The Godhead is made up of 3 distinct persons. We are born of flesh and soul. When we receive Jesus as Savior and Lord, our spirits are made alive to God.

The Holy Spirit tells us about Jesus. JN chapters 16-17

That's why it's paramount to build up our inner most selves on reading the Bible. Why not begin reading in the New Testament?

I did a study just in the Gospels about the dynamics between Jesus, the Father, the Holy Spirit; the Apostles; and you can see how the Body of Christ is to operate as a unit...one Body. It keeps you focused.

The Old Testament can be accessed to see the prophesies that have been fulfilled, or the few that are being fulfilled now.

We are to be involved in EQUIPPING the Saints of God for the Lord to have available; disciples to work in this End Time Harvest.

We are to be His Body that sees, hears, teaches and preaches what we have learned; TO THOSE THAT ARE PERISHING !

Has anybody memorized the link out on the Red Section that has the Link: How TO Become A Christian??

Where is The Spirit of John the Baptist? Calling people to repent and be born again?

Do you know enough to lead them in a prayer for salvation? Point them to a Church that possesses the pure milk of the Word?

1 Corinthians Chapter 3

1 And I, brethren, could NOT speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.

2 I have fed you with MILK and not with MEAT: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it; NEITHER NOW are ye able.

3 For ye are yet CARNAL: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?

John 4:34

JESUS saith unto them, My MEAT is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.

Mishael

Randy H.'s comment on 2020-10-21 09:43:41:

I'm seeing comments about the rapture for Acts 2:41 but I don't see anything about the church being taken up there. Rather I see about the Jewish believers in Jerusalem selling all they had and putting it all together for them to share with all as they have need. More than likely they, too, believed that Christ was returning very very soon, which he did not. Later we see Paul taking up collections from the jews that were scattered around Europe, to send to the poor believers in Jerusalem. In other words the original selling of their goods had been used up. Not sure how one would get the rapture from this. Just asking.

Pam's comment on 2020-06-28 03:54:16:

According to Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Repent-----You got to be sorry for all the sins you have committed (knowingly and unknowingly and those sins you are just plain ignorant of. Be baptized-----(In water) the submerging of the entire body. Ye (You shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost) ----The evidence of speaking in tongues (the language that only GOD, HIMSELF will give unto you. If a person has been baptized and the Speaking in tongues has not come immediately then the person must continue to pray then-surely GOD will place the language into your mouth. Thank GOD for placing His Holy Spirit in me. This Language is not of myself because I cannot do it by myself. When GOD places HIS Spirit (The Holy Ghost into a person, they will know that there is An Almighty GOD that lives within HIS people. This Gift is not of man and it cannot be measured by man and his limited (small amount of knowledge but it is from above) The GOD that sits in the Highest Heaven and rules the entire earth in which HE, HIMSELF GOD made. Please, GOD, help the readers of these words seek for the forgiveness of their sins, be baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ so that they can experience the Gift of GOD. LORD, we need YOU, the entire world needs YOU, LORD, Trouble on every side, we need YOU, The storms of life is ragging, YOU, DEAR GOD is our hope. YOU, FATHER GOD is sturring the world like the eagle stirs his nest, we are helpless with You, JESUS.

Leigh's comment on 2020-05-29 07:58:40:

Willie,

Just stand on the scriptures, God will take care of the rest, He will honour Your stand on His Word.

Acts 2:38 KJV

[38] Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Find someone who will baptise you in the name of the Jesus Christ, if you haven't already.

Then you will not be tossed about by every ones opinions.

John 16:13 KJV

[13] Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

He will guide you into all truth.

1 John 2:27 KJV

[27] But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

ye need not that any man teach you

There you go Willie, that's God's Word.

Stand on it, He promised it. Praise the Lord.

Faith leads to obedience.

John 15:7 KJV

[7] If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

You want Him to settle this doubt, ask Him and believe Him when He said - it shall be done unto you.

Matthew 24:35 KJV

[35] Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

God bless you

Mishael to Willie's comment on 2020-05-28 22:52:27:

Sometimes you need to read a lot of scripture About the Holy Spirit to be CERTAIN about who He is and what He is all about. He is not a tongue.

If you are nervous about who the Holy Spirit is... He already knows you are. He'll wait till you search the scriptures to be settled in your mind, that He is the 3rd person of the Godhead; He is the Spirit of Christ Jesus. Jesus went to the Cross partly so we all who believe on Jesus can receive the Holy Spirit without fears. Knowledge is strength.

If your Bible has a dictionary OR a concordance; look up all those scriptures.

When you ARE SURE you want the Holy Spirit ?? Then hold up your hands and say this out loud: " Holy Spirit I trust you and I want everything that you want me to have". I receive it now by faith. Thank you Jesus!!

Amen! Praise God! So Be It! Hallelujah!
