Rodney Geisler's comment on 2011-02-25 06:33:44:

Not only was this a testimony against the town, but it was a symbol for the believer to move forward. Don't hold bitterness or anger towards those who rejected your message. Let it go and move forward to the next adventure God has in store for you.

Look at the next verse, "They were filled with joy and the Holy Spirit." Usually when we have just been rejected and sent running we don't think of being joyful. The reason that Paul and Barnabas could be joyful was they had walked in forgiveness. I'm pretty sure when you are ran out of town the words people speak against you at the time are not very flattering. So you have to choose to forgive them, not holding it against them, then move on to the next thing God has in store for you.

In business if someone rejects my bid or even my suggestions I have to be careful not to hold offense. "Shake the dust off," forgive, forget and move on to the next customer. And quit the gossiping about them.
