I think "man" should be very careful with interpertation and taking word "liberity" with the pharse, "God said." Whereas, Theologians are "trained" to interpet, I have not found the scripture of God saying, "a man after my own heart." Yet, this interpertation is widely accepted. I didn't find that Samuel said, "a man after my own heart" (I Samuel 16:13-14 KJV). I did read where the Apostle Paul
acribes "man after my own heart" as quoting God (Acts 13:22KJV). I know that everything that was spoken was not written, but this quote about David from God,to me, when the text is really read it gives a different understanding, especially in the light of "man" understanding David's "short comings" and "after my own heart."

V.22. A man after mine (God's) own heart. Does this statement mean that David thrilled the heart of God more than other righteous people? I used to think so till I read a comment about it. The active subject here might be "man after"; A man who pursued or went after pleasing God. Although David sinned drastically, he became very devoted in going after, / getting back to the things God loves. Referring to Jesus, God said,"This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased. Hear ye Him" (Matt. 17:2) What better way to please God than to embrace his beloved Son in our lives.
