Good ? I don't know who appoints these judges. Maybe the king?

Where is it in the Bible about the elections of Judges? I thought it said something about the election of judges to lead quiet and peaceful lives: which is covered in 2 Timothy 2:2, but does not state judges outright.

I thought I had read something about the appointment of judges, am I wrong?
