Proverbs 16:7, "When a man's ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him."

Maddie, even though this Proverb may not seem relevant, I think it shows us that if we please the Lord by doing his Will & exuding Christ-likeness, then even our enemies will not be able to deny our position & of those who can rationalize this new behaviour, will confess that it is the Lord Who hath done this.

I'm sure your parents never thought ill of you, rather it was your desire to present yourself in the best light to them. What matters, as you say, is how God sees you - His precious child, & this is all that matters - He will take care of the rest - even using your life & words to testify of His goodness.

Maddie's comment on 2020-10-24 14:30:05:

I lived thinking about my parents and how they thought of me, but now I try to think about how God sees me, and be pure in his eyes and in the eyes of my parents.

jesus died for our future sins.he died wen those living now were nt yet born.confessing ones sin means humility n an agreement wt christ provision,as all our sins are taken care for.1john2:1-2

Steve's comment on 2015-06-18 14:18:24:

I believe that we must confess all our sins to God. I don 't believe that this falls under works. I believe this is out of love for what Christ has done for us on the cross and to repent of our sins which is to turn from sin and to turn to God. This is not works this is choice. We do this out of conviction of our sin because God is in us.

james's comment on 2014-10-09 13:22:37:

jesus died for our salvation healing and forgiveness but we have to appropriate salvation by receiving jesus.it is not an automatic.people who say I don 't have to confess my sins must also believe that they are saved since jesus provided it don 't have to receive jesus.this is error you are healed saved forgiven but you have to make a withdrawal by acting confessing sin.faith without works is dead reply to Arthur comments

This is a wonderful promise from God to all believers. Though we are born again we still have the sin nature which is the flesh. So God in his infinite wisdom has provided a way of escape for us. That if we ask for his forgiveness he will forgive us.

Toni's comment on 2014-06-26 04:51:18:

Faithful and just is our God. He will do just what He said He will do. If we turn our hearts to His Son Jesus and tell Him all that we have done, humbling ourselves before His mighty hand and crying some tears, God is quick to forgives us. He is a fair God. He will not hold our sins against us. What 's more, He doesn 't bring our past back up to us ever. Finally, through Jesus, God will cleanse us and purge us from all filthiness of the flesh. And all that we once were will be forgotten. We will be clean through the Word.

MockingBird's comment on 2014-06-26 02:39:34:

I believe that that scripture is saying that I must acknowledge my sin by confessing it to God although He already knows I have sinned I must recognize my sin by confessing it and asking forgiveness and turn from that sin and then God will forgive me and cleanse me from it. Praise God for His gift of forgiveness and cleansing with the blood of Jesus Christ.

Olabode's comment on 2014-06-26 00:34:05:

Sin is something that can bring separation between us and God.Isai.59 1 2. prob. says he that covers his sins shall not prosper. Our God is faithful and just. He was encouraging us in Isa.1 10 that we should come and let us reason together, though our sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow, red as crimson, they shall be as wool. if we can come unto him and acknowledge that, we have sinned and confess with our mouth, humble ourselves, pray, seek his face and turn from our wicked ways, he is just and faithful to forgive all our sins and cleanse us from all our unrighteousness.

Michael's comment on 2014-02-24 05:37:04:

Arthur 12 3 13 is absolutely correct I too believe 1 Jn 1 is NOT written for the benefit of believers The Gnostics were unbelievers among the believers and needed to hear TRUTH about their sin s Either Christ died for all sin for all time or He did not If we still have to make effort to receive forgiveness as the Old Testament people Jews did as the Apostle Paul also states Christ s death was in vain My salvation is simply Him living His life in and through me and when I seek to do my will I say Thank you for having already forgiven me and for having cleansed me from unrighteousness I am continuing to understand Your deep love for me and I am so very grateful for Your love He desires for me to be conscious of HIM and HIS life and love for all others not a sin consciousness which would keep my focus on sin It is very freeing for my mind He truly lives and is truly madly in love with each of us

This scripture, hits the nial right on the , " HEAD ", when, it comes to the story of my life, and most of all, because it does, involve, the most inportant, person here on earth, which everyone knows it Precious.

Arthurs Comment's comment on 2013-12-02 23:45:47:

1 John 1:9 was written to Gnostics teachers who had infiltrated their ranks and John was addressing them. It was not written to believers.

Consider this: In the old testament, the Hebrews confess their sins to have their sins covered for one full year under the old covenant when, under the New Covenant, many christians confess their sins daily? is not the blood of Jesus better than that of bulls and goats?
If confessing is vital to forgiveness why did not Paul, the man that God used to write thirteen different epistles, mention anything at all about confessing sins in any of them?
When you accepted The Lord Jesus Christ you were translated from darkness into the light and all your sins have been forgiven past, present and future. Alleluia thank you Jesus!!!

LEIGH's comment on 2013-11-20 08:13:05:

YES SALVATION THROUGH CHRIST IS OUR ONLY HOPE .. CHRIST IN YOU THE HOPE OF GLORY... NO YE NOT THAT YOU HAVE BEEN BOUGHT WITH A PRICE .. . For the most part most of religion dose not understand that the scripture is alive today as much as it was in the early rain church ...Jesus is not dead ... Read First john ... and understand that The Gospel of salvation is just as alive today as it ws then ... and all scripture is given unto us to bring us UNTO .. salvation..

sarah's comment on 2013-10-24 21:33:27:

If we truly have the conviction that we have sinned whether unbelief or behavioural we should tell God by confessing it to him which fulfills the purpose of his son Jesus then he promises that he is faithful and just to forgive us. I believe that your confession has to be felt for you to trully receive his forgiveness! This really brings so much joy. Halleluyah!
