The 2 olive trees and 2 candlesticks are the 2 houses of Israel (Israel and Judah) that stand before God. These are the witnesses, the elect, the 144,000 sealed 42 months from death prior to the 6th trumpet.

These witnesses are also depicted in allegory as the woman in Chapter 12 that hides in the wilderness from the dragon. The woman has God's protection, exactly like the 2 witnesses/144,000. They are one in the same. vs 6 And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.

That is a very good catch, Debra. Advanced thinking. Way to put the clews together.

I believe the 2 witnesses are the 2 olive trees and the 2 candlesticks are this. Olive trees are the Jews and the gentiles, Jesus is the roots and the 2 trees are grafted together. The 2 candlesticks represent the Jews and the gentiles giving light to the world, teaching the word of God to the lost. The Jews are the ones who believe Jesus is the Messiah and the Gentiles believe Jesus is the Messiah. We are the 2 witnesses, the born again believers Jews and Gentiles.

Freddy L Blair's comment on 2021-01-08 04:44:58:

I believe that the Word of God and the Spirit of God may be the two witnesses spoken of, and that God will use them as he did with John the Baptist- who Jesus said was also Elias, if the disciples would receive it.

The world cannot stand to be condemned for their wicked ways, and they are already seeking to remove God from their memories. They will rejoice when the last Christian dies- as is foretold with the scriptures concerning the Beast, who will cause all who will not receive his mark to be killed.

I believe that the world will rejoice when they no longer have to hear the Word of God preached, and no longer feel the condemnation they feel for their wickedness. I believe that the two witnesses may well be the Word of God and the Spirit through the preaching of the word and the testimony of those who are born again.

And the world will leave the churches standing, and when Christ comes back, and we are changed in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, fear will fall upon them.

John Murphy's comment on 2015-01-03 20:05:33:

The Bible does not indicate by name who the 2 witnesses shall be, but it most likely will not be anyone already deceased. Would be Elisha and Enoch by my understanding.

Mark's comment on 2014-07-02 13:01:58:

Notice in the verse "standing " is the clue to who might be the 2 witnesses. They are most likely John the Baptist spirit of Elijah Matt. 11 14 and Elisha 1 King 17 1 18 15 2 King 3 14 . Notice they stand by the Lord of the whole Earth. They will prophesy for 1,260 days wearing sackcloth, representing mourning. Other possible witnesses are Moses, Enoch and James the brother of John.

I don't understand. It says standing before the God of Earth. That would be Satan right? 1 John 5:19

The world is easily swayed by only what is seen..
Look carefully and you will find that only the gospel of Matthew and John is really valid. These are the two olive trees because they bear the fruit of the Word.
The other two are 'candlesticks' that actually 'burn out' and are false. These gospels are not of the appointed and handpicked apostles.
Nobody is really seen to challenge the 'church', yet we have to wonder what their great secrets are.The truths are revealed to the nameless, but only great theologians determine what m***es may see. It is true ..many weeds are found in the fields also, even in what the largest part of the world is told is 'the truth'.
God is very smart, and the scriptures do tell all, even of its desecration.
