This verse has spoken to me day after day since giving up my life the way it once was. I lived for me... not effort, thought or consideration to God. On September 23rd - (yes, 9:23) I was gifted an opportunity to face my ways and ask God for help. I've been sober since. Should I have kept to my ways, and denied Jesus... I certainly would not be where I am now.

This verse reminds me, life here on earth is but one day at a time. Picking up my own cross, the truth of suffering and seasons of painful deaths of my old ways, as a reminder that the Kingdom of God awaits me and I have the responsibility of carrying my cross like a picket sign to others... to say if you want what I have, here is the way - the only way. The difficulties of earthly life come and go, but each day, as I renew my faith (pick up my cross) I find myself better able to understand what Jesus meant by not having to wait to die, to see heaven here on earth. Luke 9:23-27

I THINK THIS VERSE IS SAYING TO FOLLOW JESUS YOU MUST PICK UP YOUR CROSS, EVERY THING THAT JESUS ACCOMPLISH ON THE CROSS IS YOUR CROSS,

This text tell me that I must deny the world that is the flesh/worldly possessions and follow Jesus(the church). To take up your cross is to adhere to your responsibilities as a house priest. To lead your family in righteousness and to do the will of God. Stay within the rules and regulations of your church which is their to protect you.

I believe that this verse has not yet been fully understood. To say come after me, and then say follow me is redundant. After much meditation and prayer about this particular scripture, it was revealed to me by the Holy Spirit, that what our Lord is saying is "if any man will be my successor in the earth, let him deny himself and live as I lived".

I think of this scripure is to not to think of yourself anymore than you used to,living the life with JESUS TAKING UP THE CROSS is letting GOD know that you really need him,and that you are ready to live the life that he has given you proving yourself that you can do all things through Christ that strengthen you.
