Well, Jesus speaks to jews here. According to the gnostics the god Jahve is the devil, so logically those Jesus speaks to here worship the devil, hence his will they will do. This could be an explanation here if you consider Jesus himself being a gnostic teacher.

I see some good comments...yes I think the Cain line comes to play here and how interesting it is that the coronation stone of David has been in N Ireland at/around time of Jesus. Do you think Jacob lost it or left it behind?? NOT LIKELY. These false jew moneychangers were getting called out by Jesus and he was probably killed for it

Ye are of your father the devil. Jesus meant that the nature of lying of this dark angel (devil) was in them. And the lusts of your father ye will do; -you will promote or support his evil purpose. What he desires to fulfil in the world: deceiving, misleading and murdering humanity. He was a murder from the beginning and abode not in the truth, -his sole purpose is to lead astray and kill through deception. Telling lies is his nature because it is his main weapon of destruction. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is liar, and the father of it. -He was the first one to lie to Adam and Eve about eating the fruits of the tree in the middle of the Garden of Eden. This verse confirms that Cain is not the biological son of Adam but rather the devil. That is, the devil did in fact had intercourse with Eve. Cain is the product of this sexual relation. The attributes described in this verse reflect those of Cain from the very begining. It was not the eating of fruit of the forbidden tree that some would thought to believe.
