I believe the Holy Spirit is the engrafted implanted Word, referred to in James 1 21, receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. The phrase save your souls, in this context, does not mean to save from eternal condemnation. It means to sanctify. Thus the child of God is commanded to receive i.e, accept the engrafted Word the Holy Spirit Who teaches us the written Word and impresses upon our heart truths that we need in order to grow. Only when the Word of God becomes part of you will you have the power to overcome sin. otherwise you will find yourself sinning with helpless regularity. The basic meaning of superfluity is an overflow of evil. The Holy Spirit is teaching us through the Apostle James, that we must be doers of the word, and not hearers only. We must put away the overflow of evil in our lives, by receiving the implanted word of God, with meekness, which is able to save our souls.
