This passage of the Bible has always bothered me. I read Trent's comment posted on 2010-01-13 and the Bible only mentions 4 people in existence. Was is possible as Trent suggested that the only way Cain knew his wife were from his mother? Or did Eve have daughters that were not mentioned in the Bible and the off springs moved to the Land of Nod? If the Lord God did create others, why were they not mentioned? This has always made me wonder, if more than one Adam and Eve were created and if so, why weren't they included? Thank you for taking the time to read this and hopefully someone will provide an answer.

Individuals living in excess of 900 years doesn't comply with the 120 year limit God placed on man's life. However, if we look at each individual as representing an entire body of people living during a period it starts to make sense. Many of your family names still reflect similar practices. Smith, Gardner, Cook, Baker, Mason, etc.
Such answers tend to open more questions than they answer, but that may be a tell-tale sign that we're actually getting somewhere. The more we know, the more we know we don't know.

He also created other men and women to replenish the earth and they were all called Adam in the day that they were created by the hand of God. The Adam who named his wife Eve was of the lineage of Christ and that is why his story is relevant.Plus the fact that he was the first Adam created.

In Genesis 1:28, God made them Male and female and sent them out to replenish the earth. I think this is the humnoids that science talks about being the forerunners of man. In chapter 2 he makes Adam (and breaths in to him and he become a "living soul" and places him in the garden to dress it (to go forth and replenish the earth) and he makes Eve from Adam (so she has a soul also). This is the problem with taking the Bible as the literal truth and history. It makes no sense. How do you explain the fact that Cain had a wife in the Land of Nod? Here are some choices. 1) Cain's wife was not human. 2) God created other women but the Bible forgot to mention that. 3) There were other women that God did not create.

Where did Cain's wife come from? Up to this point in history, the Bible only mentions 4 people in existence: Adam, Eve, Cain, Abel- and Abel was killed. Did God actually create more people in the beginning, but not mention it in the Bible? Otherwise, the only way for Cain to have a wife an kids would have been through the only woman existing- his mother, Eve.
