Note that the Apostle is taking up from verse one and that the whole of verses 2-13 are a parenthesis. What is the "cause" that leads to the Apostle to his knees? That which he mentioned in chapter 2 regarding what God has done through His Grace. Blessed Grace of God.

To go on ones knees is an act of position. you are not standing nor are you walking or lying down. Each of these have a meaning example walking is a type of your relationship with God. bowing down on your knees is a type of worship. and notice it is not one knee but both. This notes a sold out position to God. Also this is to the Father and it is a relationship we have with God because of his son Jesus the Christ. It is through Jesus that we are able to come to the father by the blood.
