This chapter written by Solomon is to give counsel in view of man's wickedness. He gives a series of proverbial sayings concerning wisdom & foolishness. Verse 26 probably refers to a loose woman (harlot). Solomon also refers to her in his Proverbs 6:24-29. Sadly, he uses the female gender to demonstrate his point of seduction, when both genders are equally responsible in the decisions they make. Solomon says that this is "more bitter than death": the seduction into sin's traps. However, he says, both righteous men & women are a rare find (vv 27,28). Not a nice picture at all, but again showing us that our hearts are "deceitful above all things & desperately wicked...." (Jer 17:9).
