To me it means the church is responsible for protecting the image of other christians when they fall into sin, especially great men of God, if David said such about saul it shows that the church today is a far cry from respecting the Lord's annointed. When a man of God is in trouble why should the church be involved in the Gossip and spreading of the news, even if it is true like David we should publish it in Gath(the world) lest the daughters of the philistines rejoice(unbelievers rejoice).
